Scope:
History of Indigenous Knowledge (HIK) aims to reveal the dynamism in the development of human knowledge by analyzing the interactive process of indigenization and innovation. It proposes a new synthesis of historical studies by combining the results of international cooperation from the perspective of exchange, interaction and creation of knowledge and technology.
The first International Symposium of History of Indigenous Knowledge (ISHIK 2011) was held in Beijing, China in 2011. The 2nd symposium (ISHIK 2012) was held in Saga, Japan in 2012. The 3rd symposium (ISHIK 2013) was also successfully held in Anyang, China in 2013. The 4th symposium (ISHIK 2014) was held in Saga again, Japan in 2014. The 5th symposium (ISHIK 2015) was held successfully held in Shenzhen, China in 2015. The 6th symposium(ISHIK2016) was held in Saga, Japan in 2016. The 7th symposium(ISHIK2017) was held in Hainan Island, China in 2017.
The purpose of the symposiums is to introduce the HIK by offering a place of interdisciplinary discussions among history of science and technology, history of industry, history of economy and scientific studies on cultural properties. Our symposium also addresses problems such as the explosion of information in historical studies, the construction of new interdisciplinary network, and the establishment of a new perspective to analyze local history in the international context. In 2014 year we have established the Society for History of Indigenous Knowledge (SHIK) in order to have The ISHIK smoothly and more successfully.
We will have the 8th symposium (ISHK 2018), held in Saga, Japan in 2018, which is organized by The Society for History of Indigenous Knowledge (SHIK).
We expect that many researchers show interest in ISHIK2018 and attend it.
Topics include but are not limited to:
All topics of history of Indigenous knowledge are well come.
History of scientific technique, history of medicine, history of iron industry, history of industry, history of technical education, science of cultural assets, preservation of cultural assets, analysis of material, analysis of graph, Japan history, China history、international history.
Technical visit:
A latter part of the symposium, we will have a technical visit to a car company, Toyota in Fukuoka, where we can learn about ingenious knowledge, etc.
Language:
Official language at the conference is English, Japanese, and Chinese with translations. This means that abstracts should be written in English but main body of the papers can be written in any languages. We can communicate in any languages with translation between Japanese and Chinese for our discussion.
Review Process, Proceedings:
The Program Committee will review all submitted papers and decide on the acceptance. Full versions of the accepted contributions will be published in the proceedings available at the conference.
