The first International Symposium of History of Indigenous Knowledge (ISHIK 2011) was held in Beijing, China in 2011. The 2nd symposium (ISHIK 2012) was held in Saga, Japan in 2012. The purpose of the symposiums is to introduce the HIK by offering a place of interdisciplinary discussions among history of science and technology, history of industry, history of economy and scientific studies on cultural properties.
